What is a stock code?
The stock ticker is used to identify stocks in the stock quote system. Each stock symbol is made up of numbers and letters or a combination of both. For example, Google's parent company Alphabet Inc is listed on NASDAQ under the code of GOOG and Apple Inc is listed under the code of AAPL.
Where have you heard the ticker symbol?
You'll see the ticker symbol on the scrolling ticker from the bottom of the screen in the financial news program. The code is used to show the companies that trade the stock.

A stock code is also called a stock symbol.
Every exchange in the world has its own code naming rules. S. And European stock exchanges typically use a 3-4 letter ticker symbol, often closely related to the company name, such as EZJ for Easyjet. In Asia, the ticker symbol is usually a string of numbers, such as HSBC in hong Kong Stock Exchange the code is 0005.
Some ticker symbols contain useful information about listed securities. For example, the NASDAQ stocks usually contain 4 letters (but sometimes 5 letters) to provide you with more detailed listing information, I .e. J for voting shares and Q for companies that have declared bankruptcy.
If you want to find stocks but only know the company name, you can search online from the database. All you need to do is enter your company name and select the exchange you wish to search.
You should understand that stocks can be traded on multiple exchanges and in multiple countries at the same time. This is called cross-listing. For example, BP at the same time. New York Stock Exchange and london Stock Exchange (LSE) listed.
